With its unique shape, the iconic CH24 Wishbone Chair by Hans J. Wegner has a special place in the world of modern design. When designing the CH24 chair, Wegner decided to merge the backrest and armrest as a single piece. To provide stability for the steam-curved top and ensure comfortable support, Wegner developed the characteristic Y-shaped backrest, from which the Wishbone Chair gets its name. More than 100 steps are required to make each Wishbone Chair, which are mostly performed by hand. It takes about one hour for a skilled craftsman to create just the hand-woven seat, using about 120 metres of paper rope, which has remarkable durability and stability and makes the chair hard-wearing and long-lasting. The Wishbone Chair provides comfort and stability while fulfilling aesthetic needs for an elegant and distinct shape. Over time, the Wishbone Chair has gained acknowledgement as the ideal chair, conveying the essence of modern Danish design.
